Happy Chinese New Year!

As a venturer group we went to Chinatown and watched the dragon/lion dance, firecrackers, crazy kung fu dudes, and ballet dancers!

Very fancy… the guy sees out from the mouth.

Oh how nice!

They accidentally left a dragon head next to the stage… I found this a photo op!

Mt Barney Hike

It’s been so long since my last post! What have I been up to… Hiking and family time! DSC01494

This was the view from the bottom of Mt Barney’s famous Lower Portals. A series of rockpools and waterholes following a creek down the mountain.

This particular waterhole was so deep, you could have so much fun jumping off rocks.

I love the colours in this photo…

Alex looking out over the creek, was a great view.

The rare Rock Wallaby. We were told it was extremely rare to see these so low down the mountain, we saw two.

I just love ground shots.

I got up at sunrise to take a nice photo… given The horizon was up a mountain, the best i got was a reflection of the pink clouds.

My ‘desperado artsy’ rock stack. I guess this will be as close as it gets for a wednesday macro.

Aaron testing out his face camo.

After the hike we went for a drive to the dam, water-skiers in the distance.

Old hut on a property off the mountain, I love this photo.

Nerf War tonight

Tonight I just got back from a full scale Nerf Gun fight/battle with my Venturer unit. So we all were split to teams, and basically we all shot at each other till we ran out of ammo ^_^ twas totally fab 😀

So these were taken post battle… bullets on the ground… shots ceased. I put on my PRESS hat, and with my diplomatic immunity I took photos of the field without being as brutally shot at as an actual member of a team 😀

brandy poser

Brandy wielding her fully automatic umm… big gun of some kind… was extra painful 😛

Total fancy shot of some of the bullets used up in the main hall area. But this is only a few compared to the entire building… which was littered with little orange bits of foam.

Lachlan was one of many Nerf casualties… a true hero XD

Landsborough – Caloundra Summer Camp

A fellow Venturer, Bek, organised a summer camp for us as she is leaving soon in February. We caught the train up to Landsborough, then walked the 40mins to the Rocky Creek Scout Campsite while our leader took our bulky gear up on his truck. Upon arrival, we see about 200 scouts that weren’t our Australian uniforms! We realised they were mostly Australian kids but were involved in the Polish scouting movement, they were from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Later that day we were invited to their campfire songs night which was one of the most adorable nights of my scouting life, I was pulled into a polish dance, while Bek was chosen in a Polish kissing song game (SO CUTE). They had one thing that Australian scouts lacked, tradition. They had the traditional uniforms, they were disciplined (marching?!?), they sang songs, and they all respected their elders. There was the traditional lighting of the fire by an old scout who started scouting in Poland in 1945, there were hymns, then scout songs, it was really a beautiful experience and I’m not sure if I will ever witness it again 🙂

1 polish fire

These were the knots of the Boy’s Camp of the Polish part, quite pretty I thought but oh those square lashings? they must be redone they would never pass for a knot here in Aus.

2 knots

In the mean time, our fabulous knot tying was established by our home made park bench, actually super comfortable.

3 our bench

This is today’s Wednesday Macro: I nearly walked into this little guy during the night… oh Australia why is everything so terrifying!!

4 spider

This was on our day trip to Caloundra, it is also my new desktop picture. I love it 🙂

5 caloundra sky

Taken on the top of the King’s Beach spider web playground good fun, perhaps the reason for my sunburn.

6 caloundra climb

Follow the ribbons!! This was the message the Polish were telling us on how to get to their concealed campsite ^_^

7 follow the ribbons

One of the Polish scouts, Alex, unknowingly was the model for this fabulous shot of me being artsy… isolation in the harsh Australian environment perhaps?

8 alex alone

Anyways… I had a wonderful time being a scout, still plenty more to do!

City Silhouettes

City Silhouettes

We has a farewell party for our Venturer Leader Therese tonight… twas a happy night for a sad occasion. But today I helped make dinner (for the party) at a fellow venturers house, helped with shopping for our camp (see below) and also bought Brisbane’s best Turkish Delight as a gift for Therese. So my satisfaction from giving today is at an all time high ^_^

I will be away for the next 5 days as we are all going camping up in Landsborough for Bek’s 18th. Will be super fun 😀

I took this photo up at another reservoir tonight while us venturers were looking at the amazing views it was basically pitch black so i had to hold the camera super still so the shutter wouldn’t blur, took many tries XD

I really need to get a tripod…

Wednesday Macro ~ Frangipani spirals

Wednesday Macro ~ Frangipani spirals

I nearly had another totally boring day. BUT I decided to go explore my neighbourhood, so with a quick stop off at the local cafe for a croissant and ice-chocolate off I went.

Here is my rather lame recount of today’s events:
I stopped off and played at every swing set of 3 parks, then I found what I was searching for… the reservoir. The dilapidated, ‘TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED’ sign out the front loomed in my mind but I came to the conclusion that rules are meant to be broken XD. So after a super fun/adrenaline filled exploration while dodging workers I was walking out of the facility when some workers in a truck went past me and and talked to me, not caring at all that I’m civvie. Seems that people don’t actually care hahaah yessss. Then I walked in search of a forest nearby but every street I walked down was a no through road and so I got mildly lost 😛 but then I eventually found my way at another familiar park in which the swing set was made use of. I think I have an obsession with swing sets…

During my travels I found a frangipani tree and I thought this was pretty ^_^

Despite work today has been a good day

According to Wikipedia, Anatidaephobia is a FICTIONAL fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. This post is dedicated to that simply because I have nothing else to do, and that John mentioned ducks and I realised I accidentally have a duck collection (pardon the owl there). Btw I watched the movie, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ today… tis a brilliant movie ^_^

Car times home sweet home

Car times home sweet home

Today I drove back home from Woodgate, it was a tedious 400km… Driving through thunderstorms are terrifying. I also beat my speed high score (not during the thunderstorm geezus), I got up to 140km/h overtaking various cattle trailers on a 2-lane highway near Childers 😛

This photo (I wasn’t driving of course) we were on our way to my aunties house and there was a pretty sunset, I had nicer views in other photos i took but this was the only one in focus. *sigh*
